The Purpose of Teams

Last week, working with a development team, I had this thought.

The purpose of managers is to remind teams of goals.

The purpose of teams is to remind managers of reality.

    Ron,

    One slight modification: The purpose of SENIOR management is to remind teams of goals. The purpose of middle-management is to stand between SENIOR management and teams, taking the slings and arrows of each.
