If it is a good idea is debatable, but generally free markets with big welfare programs is pretty much what America is now so... <br /><br />I actually think a "nordic compromise" might actually work out in America. We push for more economic freedom while fixing and expanding welfare. If done intelligently it would probably be a good compromise that protects us from the idiot extremes on either side.
